The finer things in life tend to carry a price tag that is far too exorbitant for the average person. In the westernized world however, exclusivity created on the basis of expense is seen as a norm that differentiates the wealthy from everybody else. This degree of inequality between the proverbial "haves" and "have nots" is what outlines the power that exists where wealth is heavily concentrated. This is the power of relationships, networks and connections.
Human beings are characterized by a certain degree of imperfection that defines everything that we create. Why is it then that the automotive industry continues to criticize the creations of human hands when everything we make is nothing more than an extension of ourselves?
Having a famous person say something on television is no reason to blindly accept what they say as the truth. I choose to critique the opinion of a famous motoring journalist and figure out what being a petrolhead means to me, and what being a petrolhead should mean to every South African.
